A Day in the Life

Arrive

Students arrive beginning at 7:30 a.m. and enter the campus through the carpool line. After being greeted by the faculty monitoring drop-off, they head directly to their lockers to organize their backpacks for the day and then move on to morning prayer.

Prayer

Each day begins with Morning Prayer at 8:10 a.m. Boys and girls gather in separate areas of the campus. They begin by singing a song or reciting a Psalm, and then listening to a short reflection given by a faculty member or senior. In addition to morning prayer, each class period opens with a prayer or song as a way of offering the time to the Lord.

Conversation

Lively conversation is an inescapable aspect of everyday life at Trinity Academy. In the classical tradition, students and teachers learn together through dialogue and discussion. The back and forth often spills into social time between classes and during lunch, deepening friendships and creating a sense of comaraderie and community.

Outdoor Rhythm

The campus design invites students to spend a great deal of time outdoors. Whether it is walking from building to building to change classes, or playing a more active game on either The Green or basketball court, students are daily drawn outside. They have ample opportunity to get their bodies moving, have a little fun, and blow off steam with friends.

Homework

Trinity's homework expectations are intentionally designed to provide a meaningful amount of practice outside the classroom. They reinforce instruction and help prepare students for the next day of class. It is important for students to do their homework diligently each night. Students in 7th and 8th grade can expect about 20 minutes of homework for each class. High school students receive about 30 minutes of homework per class hour.

Clubs/After School

Trinity's extracurricular activities offer opportunities to learn lessons of teamwork, fair play, healthy competition, honorable victory, gracious defeat, and respect for opponents. Athletics teams and clubs primarily take place after school. Sports teams practice at a variety of off-campus venues, while clubs take place at the school. We also offer a free, monitored study hall to students each day from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m.

The Arts

Trinity Academy takes the importance of beauty quite seriously as an integral part of a full and thriving human life. Not only are the arts given a prominent place in the curriculum, alongside the humanities and the math and sciences, but they are also on display throughout the school day and showcased in some of the most beloved and important extracurricular events.

Music

Music fills the air at Trinity Academy. Not only do students regularly sing in the hallways, during morning prayer, and before each class, but music classes are woven throughout the curriculum. Beginning in 7th grade students learn to play the recorder and gradually progress through music theory and composition. Lunch-time concerts are regulary hosted during the year by students who enjoy sharing their musical talent with others, and more than half the student body participates in one of the three extra-curricular choirs that rehearse after school each Wednesday.

Visual Art

Beautiful art is on display in classrooms, offices, and hallways. Some of the works are museum prints, but much of it has been created by students. Art is part of the curriculum in 7th and 8th grade and later in 11th and 12th. By surrounding students with works of art and inviting them to create beauty themselves, they grow not only in their artistic skill but also in the habit of seeing and appreciating beauty in the world around them. 

Drama

In 11th and 12th grade, every student participates in two full-length classical productions. As they rehearse and perform, students develop acting skills, explore the motivations and development of their characters, and work together to design and build the sets, props, and costumes. Through this collaborative process, they cultivate creativity, craftsmanship, and confidence both on and off the stage. The drama performances are always well attended by the school community and family and friends of the actors.

Fine Arts Nights

The school hosts two Fine Arts Nights each year which highlight the musical and artistic achievements of students. These events are held toward the end of the semesters in December and May. Performances showcase the extracurricular choirs, curricular choirs, recorder players, student compositions, and poetry recitations. At a reception following each performance, families are invited to view student artwork created that semester.

Clubs

Trinity offers a number of extracurricular clubs which meet either during lunch times or after school. The following is a list of current clubs.

  • Rhapsodes Drama Club (November through February)

Students are welcome to initiate new clubs that are in accord with the Trinity Academy culture. They can do so by finding a faculty sponsor, writing a proposal, and submitting it to the head of school.

Parent Involvement

Parental involvement in the life of the school is crucial for our culture of learning and culture of Christian life to flourish. All parents are invited to participate, and, while there are no specific time requirements, the success of the mission of the school depends on parents being part of the regular activities of their children.
